Very tired today.

I did various bits of useful DIY at Mum and Dad’s house, saw my sister, and then had a relatively easy drive back to Luton. I got back in time for Nova’s swimming lesson and to put Leo to bed, which felt like a minor logistical success.

What I keep forgetting is how much effort driving actually is. I tend to think of it as dead time with a steering wheel, but it clearly takes more out of me than I allow for. It also reliably leads to a quite bad pattern of junk food and caffeine, and I’ve had three days of four hours driving a day. Nevertheless, I’m grateful to see family, and that I can take the time without much inconvenience for either work or Kat and the kids. I’m pleased I was able to fix a few things (I take a bootload of tools up with me but it’s always luck if I’ve taken the correct ones) and that the drive, while tiring, did give me a chance to properly think through a few problems.
